Hello Bill, I have not checked in for a while and was a little surprised to see your reply. Thank you. For your information, sometime while I was there in 66-67 a letter came from home with a fine news paper article about you unit from Pittsburgh Pa. The folks at home always watched for, and let me know of any news related to the area we served. So there were many other people at home aware of your unit and its mission. To this day some of my more vivid memories of VN are of times sitting on the tool box at that airfield watching the broad flat horizon, hearing only the pleasant sound of the tall grass rustling in a near constant breeze while listening for engine sounds, if only subconsciously. So easily daydreams of home appeared filling long periods of time, then anxiety when the wind momentarily stopped or changed direction bringing dead silence and reality that my mind was wandering and there was that insecure need to look behind me. Thanks also, for the explaination of the flight plan as I once was sure of the places and reasons, but now I have forgotton so much of the details and retain only indelibly impressions. We did our jobs without need for apology, with earned respect and trust, and faced our own dangers more fortunately than many others. Its always great to make a connection with the past. I would appreciate one of those business cards.
