It will be exactly 34 years for me on 12/9/04. It's hard to believe that all that time has passed since I left country. You wonder where all the time went. It only seems like 10-12 years ago. Kind of scary in a way......all the names and expressions are still fresh in my mind.....Can Tho, Binh Thuy AB, Can Tho Army Airfield, Ben Xe Moi, the Bassac River, MACV, ARVN, VNAF, "You Number 1 G.I.", "You Number 10 G.I.", "You buy me Saigon tea?", You want number 1 girl", "clicks" (instead of miles), DEROS, "short-timer", etc., etc........
What I seem to remember most are the songs from 1969/1970 that they played on Armed Forces Radio. When I hear them now, I think of Can Tho. Songs like "Vehicle", "Bridge Over Troubled Water", and that song by the group Steam....Na Na Na Na...Na Na Na Na.....hey, hey....goodbye.........
I guess it was a long time ago.........but the memories remain.
