You guys pretty much remember it like I do. I was actually on perimeter guard that night. Even being out on the perimeter was pretty confusing. There were things blowing up behind us. One cobra actually appeared to be taking out one of the bunkers. I was told the VC had taken it, but we didn’t know it at the time. We had guys running out to our bunker for reinforcement. We couldn’t tell who it was. I remember we had light signals or some damn thing to challenge people approaching the bunker but that all seemed pretty useless and stupid at the time. (Actualy is always seemed kind of stupid) I remember that the guy I was with was named Andy Anderson (I think). He was the kind that you would think was kind of shaky in these circumstances. It turned out that he was much calmer than I was. It was a night I will never forget. It give you a lot more respect for the grunts that did this on a regular basis.
