I was there from March 1968 until March 1970. Then I was transfered to the 224th Avn Bn for my last 3 months in country. Supposed to go to Fort Hood, TX for my last 14 months in service but got it changed to Arlington Hall Station, VA. Pulled my share of guard duty. I remember the night all the aircraft were blown up and a bunker full of sleeping guards was wiped out. Major Munson and Maj Miller were great CO's. We started out with our commcenter at the Officer's hotel in Can Tho city then moved to the air field. Hamit was right about the air field commander trying to get in our operations building. The MP said if he opened the door he would shoot him. I don't think the AFC was booted out because of that. How about the time they tried to lock our weapons in an arms room. I think the person responsible for that was a SGT Trask. That didn't last too long. Probably could go on for hours but I won't. If Les Preader or John Ambrutis see this, hi guys.
