I just found your site and old memories flooded back from the "old days". I was one of the first guys to get to the "Paddy Control" site. It was just a dry pad with a wire fence around it when I got there. We put all of the stuff togeather and filled the sandbags that surrounded it and even stole some steel PSP and put that around the operations building. We put all of the equiptment togeather and got communications with Siagon and I called them and informed them that we were operational....and asked what do you want us to do and what is our call sign.....they said ....I don't care what you do just let us know what you want to do and what you call sign is going to be...well that is how "paddy control" was born. This was April 1964 and when I left in April of 1965 we were begining to be of some use to the war effort. The first crew was Ssgt Gerald Emery (thats me) and A1c Ben Renzi and Don (I have forgotten his last name) a guy named Fidel was Radio maint and Gene Dereld was power....the radar man was on his own schedule and was different each shift (12 hrs on and 12 off) If any one is interested in contacting me .... just drop a note at jerrye@snowcrest.net
