I REMEMBER THAT WELL. I WAS TRYING TO GET SOME SLEEP BECAUSE I HAD POST GUARD THE NEXT DAY. WHEN THEY HIT I RAN OUT OF THE MOTOR POOL HOOCH IN MY UNDERWARE. I HAD THE KEYS IN MY HAND TO THE CONNEX WHERE ALL OR OUR RIFELES WERE LOCKED UP. NEXT I RAN AND GOT SOME FLAYORS THAT I HAD STASHED AWAY. THE SPECIAL FORCES GOT THE FIRST FLAYOR UP AND I POPPED TWO MORE. I GOT DRESSED AND BRABBED 5 M-16 RIFFLES AND BANDALARAS AND RAN TO WHERE I COULD WATCH THE GAUNTLET WHERE THE ROAD CROSSED OVER THE BRIDGE TO THE FLIGHT LINE. I COULD SEE MOVEMENT BY THE FLIGHT LINE HOOCH BUT COULD NOT MAKE OUT IF THEY WERE FRIEND OR FO. I STAYED THERE FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES THINKING IF THEY CAM IN PAST THE FLIGHT LINE THEY HAD TO GO THRU THE GAUNTLET. APARRANTLY A SAPER THREW A GERNADE INTO THE CONTROLL BUNKER BEFORE I COULD GET FLAYORS UP. SEVERAL OF THE GUYS IN THE OTHER BUNKERS THANKED ME A LOT BECAUSE OTHER SAPERS WERE ABOUT TO THROW GERNADES IN THEIR BUNKERS. MY SARGENT WAS REALLY MAD AT ME FOR HAVING THE FLAYORS WITHOUT HIM KNOWING IT. HE GOT A BRONZ STAR AND THE CAPTAIN GOT A SILVER STAR AND THEY WERE IN THE BUNKER HIDING A HALF MILE AWAY WHEN ALL WENT DOWN. WELL THATS THE ARMY. I ALMOST GOT COURT MARSHALED FOR DOING WHAT WAS RIGHT. BATTLES ARE WON NOT BY THE MANUAL BUT BY DOING WHAT IS REQUIRED AT THE RIGHT TIME. ANYBODY. ANYBODY OUT THERE APPRECIATE THE LIGHT.
