I got to Can Tho, in Jan, the barracks I lived in you can see the corner of it in Picture #67. My second night in Nam, I was taking a cold bucket bath in that latrine, when a Cobra open up in a free firw zone. Next thing I knew I was the only person in the bunker on the other side of the barrack, buck naked and cover with soap. When I came out the people on the steps just said newbee. Were you there on 1 April 70 when David Schmidt was killed in the barracks. I was sitting to his left when he was shot and killed by SSG Barnett (NCOIC) RTT site. About this time I took over the job of mail clerk for A Co and Stratcom. Here's something weird for you. I was working at Ft Gordon Ga in 1989-90, and this DA Civilian (Ret-USA) was a friend of the guy I worked with. We looked at each other and we both said we looked familiar, but couldn't place where we knew each other. One day, we were talking about Nam, and He asked me where I was stationed there I told him A Co 52nd, as mail clerk, He that's where we know each other, he was the 1SG of STRATCOM. WEIRD HUH.
